About Us

Americans Organizing Action is a 501(c)(3) non-profit founded in 2017, which focuses on expanding dialogue and organizing action around the growing influence of diverse communities in the areas of education, economic development, and social engagement. American/ O.A. works to bring together diverse communities throughout America by using the power, knowledge, and influence of U.S. and Latin American business leaders. Together, business and community leaders can solve the challenges facing America today.

Our Focus

American/O.A. will leverage support from the business community, third-party organizations, elected officials, and local leaders from target communities to advocate for policy innovation in the areas of economic development, education, and social engagement. We will focus our energy on delivering high-impact results with the intent to foster unique partnerships with distinguished businesses, organization, and individuals that will inject immediate energy into the program and garner media attention.

Strategic Corporate Partnerships

1. Coordinate fly-ins into Mexico City and Washington D.C. to promote stronger business ties and private sector knowledge.
2. Develop relationships with businesses and corporations across sectors.


Grassroots Strategies

1. Craft and deploy key issue media advocacy campaigns through promotional ad campaigns, branded content series, and strategic media campaigns.
2. Direct advocacy efforts and engage strategic government stakeholders.
3. Participate in committee meetings, organization conferences, and other government events that will promote the U.S.-Mexico relationships.



Build Coalitions

1. Engage community and political allies to advocate for pro United States-Mexico relations.
2. Craft a strategic outreach coalition calling on industry and political partners to advocate for policy innovation and cooperation.




Public Affairs & Political Advocacy

• Build advocacy playbook consisting of action plans and communication tactics.
• Develop talking points, press releases, and digital campaigns.
• Identify vehicles for delivering issue information to key constituencies.
• Identify and develop key opportunities to enhance policymaker awareness.
• Facilitation permanent communication channels. between leaders, policy makers, and government bodies.

Partners


Marco is a member of the Council on Foreign Relations and serves as Senior Advisor The Carlos Slim Foundation. He further served as U.S. Advisor to presidential campaigns in Latin America on topics of national security, international trade and commerce, and economic development.

As CEO of Intermestic Partners, Marco serves as the senior policy architect of Aldea Digital, the largest digital inclusion event in the world, and spearheads the Carlos Slim Foundation’s United States philanthropic activities in the areas of global digital inclusion. He currently serves on the Board of EveryoneOn, a national nonprofit that works to eliminate the digital divide by making high-speed, low-cost internet service, computers, and free digital literacy courses accessible, and founded ArizonaOn, its state-focused affiliate. Prior to founding Intermestic Partners, Marco was Chief of Staff at the United States Department of Homeland Security (DHS), Customs and Border Protection (CBP), managing an organization with a $12 billion budget and 60,000 employees. He counseled the Secretary of Homeland Security and the Commissioner of CBP on the implementation of new technologies, human resources, and infrastructure to secure America’s Southwest border with Mexico. Marco has an accomplished public sector career: at the age of 22, he became one of the youngest mayors in the United States, elected into office at Arizona's largest border community of Nogales, Arizona shortly after graduating from the University of Arizona.
